Liam was born on June 14, 2009 after an uneventful 9 months of pregnancy. When he was born his umbilical cord tore while he was still inside, resulting in massive blood loss. He was born grey and silent and some of the doctors didn't seem sure he would make it. He was hooked up to oxygen and other monitors, but became well enough to come home when he was 10 days old. He is now a happy 2 and half year old who happens to have several developmental delays. So far, the loss of blood (and therefore oxygen to the brain) at birth does not seem to be linked to his symptoms, so this blog is about our daily life and trying to get Liam the best supports possible.
